Lay out all the tools that you'll require. Find the battery hatch, and ensure it is set to "open." Use a flathead screwdriver or coin or another similar tool to make the hatch open. Then, carefully remove the battery from its socket by lifting it on the side closest to the key-ring loop. Make sure you wear rubber gloves to avoid damaging the clips or electronic contact surfaces.

Once the battery has been removed, put the new battery into its socket. Make sure that the positive side of the battery is facing up, and the clips are all seated. Then, slide the cover back down and towards the key-ring loop section until it is loose and falls off. Then, lift the cover and reveal the mechanical key blade, which is hidden inside.
